Room 9a and Room 18 were very lucky to receive a New World 'Little Garden' project to do together.
On Friday we planted our seeds into the little pots with our buddies.
We had to mix the soil pod with water and lay the seeds on the top and then cover them with soil.
Then we put the labels into them and put them into our big garden kit.
Our little garden looks fantastic.
Come into Room 9a and see how our garden is growing.
Welcome to Room 9A's blog for 2016. We are a class of amazing year 1 learners and our teacher is Mrs Newman. Our lovely Learning Assistant is Mrs Clyde.

Ice
We are learning about 'Water' in Room 9a.
First we had a brainstorm : What do we know about Water?
Then we had at look at water, what it looks like, feels like, tastes like, smells like, sounds like.
We learnt a new word for water 'Liquid'.
Then we talked about 'Ice' what is it? what it is made of, where it is found?, what we could use it for?, why do we need it?
Then we had an explore of ice with some ice hands. We touched it, smelt it, looked at it, listened to it and watched it melt. We got very cold hands but it was lots of fun.
Then on Thursday we used some water to make orange cordial. We watched how the water changed colour when we added the Raro crystals to it. We tasted it and then poured our liquid into ice-block molds. We then put it into the freezer over night. On Friday we took the ice-blocks out of the freezer and ate them. They are now solids. We ate them all up. Yum Yum.
