Room 9a's Wedding

We are learning about Celebrations. This week we learnt about Weddings. What does a wedding look like? Who is involved in a wedding? Where do they take place? Why do you get married? What do you wear? How do you get there? To answer some of our questions we decided to act out a wedding just like when we act out our shared book on Thursday. We all became a character in the wedding and talked about what we needed to organise for the big day.

On Monday we planned our wedding and choose our character.

On Tuesday we made invitations and invited one guest each to our wedding.

On Wednesday we made wrapping paper and wrapped a present for our guest.

On Thursday we iced 2 cupcakes each, 1 for our guest and one for us for the wedding cake.

The wedding was amazing and Mrs Newman was very proud. We wished we could have invited all the Junior School.

Watch the video it's so cute.

New World Little Garden update

The little gardens are growing beautifully in Room 9a and Room 18.
The children have been spraying them with water and putting them in the sunshine.
The children have each taken one plant home now to grow in their own garden and we will plant the leftovers in the class garden.
Watch this space.

New World Little Garden

Room 9a and Room 18 were very lucky to receive a New World 'Little Garden' project to do together.
On Friday we planted our seeds into the little pots with our buddies.
We had to mix the soil pod with water and lay the seeds on the top and then cover them with soil.
Then we put the labels into them and put them into our big garden kit.
Our little garden looks fantastic.
Come into Room 9a and see how our garden is growing.

Welcome back to Term 3.
This term we are learning about 'The Olympics'.
We had a brainstorm about what we already know about 'The Olympics'.
We had a look at some of the sports that will be at the Olympics.
We are going to keep a tally chart as part of our Maths programme to record the medals New Zealand, Australia, China and America win at the Rio Olympics this year.
This afternoon we made Olympic Torches after being inspired by the middle school at their
Olympic relay yesterday.

Working together

Drake, Matt and Peter worked really hard together today to make a candy shop at the collage/construction table.
They worked together to collaborate, incorporate everyone's ideas and to turn take to produce this wonderful sweet shop.
Isn't it awesome?

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Room 9a wishes all our Mum's and Nana's a relaxing Mothers Day tomorrow.
I hope the children look after you today.
We hope you enjoy the beautiful cards we made you.
xxoo Room 9a
Mum
I loved you yesterday,
I love you today,
And I will love you tomorrow.
You were there for me on my first day of school,
To hold my hand and give me courage to go.
You listen to me when I need to talk.
You talk to me when I need to listen.
You let me grow and learn from my own mistakes.
You never leave my side when I feel sad.
I know you are there to pick me up.
I wish there was a way to repay all the things you have done for me.
But there is nothing great enough to repay you,

The greatest mother of all.

Book Week

Room 9a has been learning about New Zealand Authors.

We read a lot of books. Some by Joy Cowley and some by Lynley Dodd and lots of books by Margret Mahy.

We loved the story by Lynley Dodd called 'The Nickle Nackle Tree'. We read it with our buddie class Room 18 and then we all had a fabulous afternoon creating our own amazing birds to go on Room 9a's Nickle Nackle Tree.

Come on in and take a look at our fabulous Nickle Nackle birds.
